Future Workshops

Hey everyone,

The participants of the Mannheim workshop want to meet for a follow-up workshop in summer 2012. To this end, UNAs Germany and Bulgaria are currently discussing whether to submit another Youth in Action application.

At the same time, a 2nd European cooperation workshop “How to Establish a UN Youth Delegate Programme” with a new set of countries is being discussed for autumn 2012. Should the trend continue we would at some point like to approach the European Youth Forum (YFJ) and the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) and/or the UN Youth Association Network (UNYANET) on becoming official cooperation partners. For more information on these organizations please visit our links section.

European cooperation workshop “How to Establish a UN Youth Delegate Programme”

“Are you aged 18 to 26? Are you a passionate youth activist? Do you want to make the world a better place? Give the youth of your country a voice at the United Nations in New York. Cooperate with diplomats, NGO activists and young leaders across Europe. Convince your government to establish a UN Youth Delegate Programme in your country!

In 2010, twelve European governments included young people in their official diplomatic delegation to the United Nations. The Youth Delegates received diplomats’ passes to enter the UN building and they met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon. They negotiated resolutions and they delivered speeches on behalf of their country’s youth in front of 192 UN Member States.

However, there are still many young Europeans without a voice at the United Nations: Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Slovenia and Spain, UK amongst others.  If you live in one of these voiceless countries, be the agent of change! Young leaders from different European countries will show you the way. Apply now to the European cooperation workshop “How to Establish a UN Youth Delegate Programme” – Nov 11th to 13th, 2011 in Mannheim, Germany – travel grants are available :) For more information please visit http://startingunydprograms.wordpress.com “
